Josie started playing piano at the age of 3 by ear, and began studying classically at age 4. She took piano lessons through age 18,
and went on to pursue her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Minnesota, Duluth in 1999. At UMD, Josie studied with Tom Wegren, Jeanne Doty, as well as Alexander Chernyshev. Josie Graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2005 with her Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano
Performance.
Josie started her piano teaching career in Duluth, MN in 2003. She moved to Minneapolis in 2005 and started building her studio in the
Minneapolis area. She and Jillian Rae opened The Music Lab in January of 2011.
Josie is also a professional pianist/keyboardist in the Minneapolis music scene. She currently plays with the Brian Just Band,
Blackberry Brandy Boys, substitute keyboardist for Jillian Rae, as well as being a solo pianist for various events and gigs. Josie
also enjoys playing piano with local improv comedy groups from time to time, including filling in for Peter Guertin at The Brave New Workshop.
