Aubrey is a lifelong musician and a skilled teacher. She has been teaching and performing in the Twin Cities since 2008.
Aubrey first learned that teaching was in her blood while she was studying music in her college years. She noticed a wonderful ease and joy as she began teaching and mentoring young musicians. Since receiving a BA in music education and becoming a certified Suzuki instructor, she continues to expand her musical horizons with many trainings, workshops, and mentorships, including study of classical, fiddle, jazz, improvisation and even classical sitar.
As a teacher, Aubrey loves to identify and cultivate her students' unique musical interests, skillfully creating an exciting environment that allows each student to shine. She incorporates classical and popular styles, music theory, composition and improvisation into her lessons. She has an energized, patient, and frequently silly personality that students are drawn to.
Aubrey's performance experience is vast and uniquely varied. Along with performances in the Twin Cities as a violinist in the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and various classical chamber groups, she can frequently be found jamming fiddle music with local groups, serenading her neighborhood with Chopin through her living room window, and of course performing with her students, who recently put on a concert of their original compositions created during lessons.
