Anna Dolde is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and performing artist from Seattle, WA, currently residing in Minneapolis. She started her music career in a competitive high school jazz band which played Lincoln Center Jazz in New York City and toured Europe to play festivals such as Jazz a Vienne, Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Umbria Jazz Festival. After high school, she moved to Minneapolis to attend Macalester College, and has stayed in the Twin Cities ever since. Her primary instrument is saxophone, but she also plays flute and sings for multiple musical projects across the Twin Cities. She is a bandleader of the local jazz-pop band Rabeca, and is a regular member of the bands Freaque, Willow Waters, and Starflower. An enthusiastic collaborator, Anna enjoys exploring music alongside other mediums, including puppetry and dance. Her main goal as an artist is to entrust audiences with emotional vulnerability through instrumental music.
As an instructor, Anna wants to make sure students are learning a variety of important skills needed to be a fully-rounded musician, including technique, sight reading, ear training, and improvisation, depending on the student's goals. She also wants students to enjoy their time and work towards their goals in a low-stress environment. She is passionate about jazz education and ensuring access for young women in jazz. Overall, Anna is a compassionate teacher who uses fun and humor to help students achieve their goals.
