Stephanie McCorkell started playing the violin and the piano at the age of 7 and studied violin, fiddle, piano, flute, and piccolo through the age of 18. She then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree at St. Cloud State University in K-12 Instrumental Music Education. While in St. Cloud she taught many private students of violin, fiddle, and viola and co-taught beginning strings students in the ASTA with NSOA String Project at St. Cloud State University.
Stephanie has inspired and elevated the abilities of hundreds of music students over her music teaching career so far. Over the last 16 years Stephanie has taught privately on the instruments of violin, fiddle, viola, cello, doublebass, and guitar, and over the last 12 years she has conducted elementary, middle, and high school orchestras and bands in school districts in the Midwest as well as in Georgia. She believes in helping beginning students build a well-rounded, solid musical skills foundation and also believes that no one is every too old to start learning a musical instrument and follow their heart.
Stephanie performs on her violin in a variety of musical styles, including classical, bluegrass, and blues and has performed at many public and private events and with many performing groups, such as the Masterworks Orchestra, Musikell Moments, Dakota Bound, Seven Corners, the Romanza String Quartet, Northern Symphony Orchestra, Faculty Grass, the Allemande String Quartet, Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra, Saint Cloud Sonare Orchestra, and Saint Cloud Symphony. She currently performs and writes original music for Twin Cities group The May North.
