GALLUPSTAR
Many of you may recall the Casual Friday Performance Hour we held every third Friday each month last spring into the early summer. Moving forward, we are going to be kicking it up a notch... The Music Lab is very excited to announce our first installment of Friday Night Live, this Friday 8/16 at The Movement Lab at 5pm! Student Performances will kick off right away at 5:00, followed by a social hour with drinks and treats, followed by a performance by a new local artist/band each month. This month's featured artist is Gallupstar : Gallupstar is a Minneapolis made one-man band consisting of Chris Webber, two microphones, a pared down drum set, a guitar, and a loop pedal. Four years running, two albums deep (with a 3rd full-length in progress), Gallupstar plays everything live, but not like your typical one-man oddity. Technically, the music has more in common with other multi-instrumentalist players and composers using loops, like Dosh and Peter Wolf Crier, but combined with layered vocal harmonies and live drums to wedge inbetween artists like Andrew Bird and Tune-Yards. We are looking forward to kicking off this new event and enjoying an evening of music and socializing with you! If you or your child would like to perform, please talk with your Lab Instructor and sign up in the Music Lab waiting room. The goal of this ongoing event is not only to provide a performance outlet for our students but also to create a fun, family friendly, event within our community and to introduce you all to awesome, local, music. Friday Night Live will be held every 3rd Friday of each month. It is currently a free event (with donations thankfully accepted!) and is for EVERYONE to enjoy... so please tell your friends!! Cheers,
