Julie has been obsessed with singing anything and everything since age 8. At 15 she began studying classical voice, continuing in to college at the University of Northern Iowa, where she also studied theatre performance. There, she had the opportunity to take the stage in numerous opera scenes and musicals. During that time she also started exploring singing pop/rock music, writing her own compositions and performing in a few bands with friends.
Julie has been privately teaching voice and acting since 2006, both in one-on-one settings and with groups. She has trained in the Alexander Technique and uses it as her primary foundation for voice teaching. She believes in giving the student choice in what he/she wants to sing, yet stresses the importance of building a solid understanding of the vocal mechanism so the student has the tools to find his/her individual voice. Currently, Julie performs with her husband in the experimental pop duo, Har-di-Har.
